Faculty Positions

Tenure-track Positions

Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the University’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes three areas: a) alternative modes of instructional delivery to include off-campus and distance learning; b) the learning process, i.e., innovative teaching strategies and/or research on how students learn and apply knowledge over an extended period of time; and c) partnership with the community to enhance social, economic, and cultural conditions. 


Position: The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Pedagogical Kinesiology at the assistant/associate professor level, effective 1 September 2010.  The successful candidate will teach in Pedagogical Kinesiology and correlate areas (e.g., History and Philosophy, Lifetime Fitness, Motor Development, Motor Control, Biomechanics, Measurement and Evaluation, etc.).  Additionally, the candidate will teach professional activity courses as appropriate.  Scholarly activities are expected.  An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding is desirable.  The candidate also will advise students and serve on department, college and university committees.

Qualifications:  An earned doctorate in Kinesiology/Physical Education with a specialization in Pedagogical Kinesiology or related area is required.  A documented commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level is expected.  Knowledge of research on effective teaching behaviors also is expected.  College level teaching experience is preferred.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.

Additionally, the candidate will teach some activity courses.  Scholarly activities are expected.  An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding is desirable.  The candidate also will advise students and serve on department, college and university committees.

Qualifications:  Earned degrees (including a Ph.D. or equivalent) in Kinesiology/Physical Education are required.  A documented commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level is expected.  .  College level teaching experience is preferred.
